We are currently wrapping up this windy and stormy year with the bright sacred choral works “Gloria” and “Magnificat” by Antonio Vivaldi.

“Gloria” is Vivaldi’s most famous spiritual choral work, a joyful hymn of praise, consisting of twelve short movements and conveying a perfect range of emotions from deep sadness to equally deep joy. Harmony intertwines organically between the voice groups, and the orchestra completes the whole. Solo parts and duets bring an operatic quality to the work, emphasizing the overall elation.

“Magnificat” is even more concrete in its exaltation, deep, moving, and profoundly dark. The solos add brightness, while the chorus sustains and supports the mood, with a resolution of “from time immemorial to time immemorial.”

Together with the Veronika Portsmuth Choir Academy Concert Choir and Chamber Choir, they bring the solemnity to you:
Soloists: Sandra Laagus, Angelika Mikk, Riivo Kallasmaa
Orchestra Ventum, conductor Edmar Tuul
Conductor: Veronika Portsmuth
