Veronika Portsmuth Choir Academy’s spring audiovisual production-concert deals with human emotional and spiritual experiences and seeks to open up the deeper layers that affect us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Today’s world, in its openness, vulnerability, and rapid and dramatic change, directs people towards questions of personal identity and values: people search for a deeper meaning of existence for themselves and try to find a constantly shaky balance between their inner convictions and the outside world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through musical works, the themes of war and peace, violence and hatred are also addressed, and causes and solutions are sought for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The staged concert will feature choral, vocal, and instrumental music from different styles and eras, creating a multilayered narrative through the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The musical numbers are from world classics, popular music hits from both Estonia and elsewhere, and national identity is emphasized throughout by the music of Veljo Tormis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Raun Juurikas’ improvisational instrument, the corofon, is used in the performance by the chamber choir singers. Musical weight and color are added to the production-concert by Hiiu kandle player Liisa Koemets-Bastida and the characteristic soloists Katrin Mandel and Marek J\u00fcrgenson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The visual artistic plot with realistic documentary footage is created by video artist Piibe Piirma.
